The Scarlet Rose: Chapter One
Halloween carried the typical trappings that its autumn weather allowed. With the cool winter ahead, it was no different for a Seattle hospital just a year before the second millennium. A man with short dark brown hair and beard, and dark blue eyes was seated at his tidy and efficient desk, the nameplate of which identified him as “Dr. Walter Valentine.” The doctor wore wire rimmed glasses, a navy blue dress shirt under his white lab coat, matching blue dress pants, and brown dress shoes. He busied himself reviewing recent FDA-approved drugs, his research suitably geared towards their potential medicinal values. Off to his left was a neatly stacked pile of folders of patient files, and onto the right was a few framed photographs. The first was an old photo of his wife, Ida, on their wedding day. She was tall, slim, and had long, flaxen hair that she kept in a ponytail, and bright green eyes. Ida worked at the university as an English and Theatre professor. The next photo was taken a

Xoguks stepped off the carriage that drove him to the Emerald Palace. He looked up at the large structure made of emerald and couldn’t help but to be slightly captivated by the sheer beauty of the architecture. A part of him wished he could have witnessed the builders construct such a captivating structure, but he pushed the thought out of his mind as the double front doors opened. Two of the Emerald Guard, Sir Zephyr and Sir Valor, walked out and waited for Xoguks and the court wizard.
“Welcome, Xoguks,” said Sir Valor with a brief nod. “King Hanali is waiting for you in the great hall. We’ll be teleporting to

Xoguks slowly walked down the stairs after a long night of restless sleep. Gray clouds obscured the morning sun, so the hallway of the Mori Manor was dark. He had barely reached the bottom step when there was a knock on the front door. Xoguks looked around to see if any of the manor servants were nearby when Alexander walked through the door that lead from the north wing and towards the front door. When he opened it, Xoguks saw a tall wood-elf female in dark green robes and golden trim.
“I assume you must be here to escort Xoguks?” asked Alexander.
“I am,” she nodded before spotting Xoguks walking over. “Ah, th

A tall, handsome man sat at a large, black grand piano in the left corner of a large, spacious, windowless room with walls painted black and illuminated by lamps that emitted red light. There were many paintings of landscapes and famous figures that lined the walls. Two large couches lined the two sides of the room, with a large bookcase sat behind a large ebony desk. The man had slick back black hair with light stubble, cool dark brown eyes, and fair skin. He wore a pitch black business suit and white long sleeved shirt beneath a black vest and tie. The man picked up a glass of scotch and downed it before he set it back on the coaster and co

The sun had barely cracked over the horizon when Riviére and Hanako stood next to the female city guard captain as they stood beside a naked Tatsu as he lay sprawled out over the ground. A thick, dark bruise covered his right ribs as a result from landing on a rock earlier during the night. Riviére did her best not to laugh at the comical scene as Hanako stood rooted to the spot, her face a dark shade of red.
“I-I’m sorry, he did what?” asked Riviére as she did her best not to laugh.
The female guard took a deep breath to keep her temper in check. “I said, we received word that there was a nude male ru

The sound of crunching metal filled the room as Xoguks punched the helmet of a large suit of plate armor and it caved in from the force of the blow. The animated suit of armor dropped its sword and crumbled to the ground as Xoguks quickly turned and uppercutted a second animated suit of armor in the chest plate. As Xoguks landed on the ground, he punched the armor twice in the hip, breaking apart the armor at the joint. A nearby set of armor aimed an arrow at the goblin warrior and fired. Xoguks quickly reacted by grabbing the arrow out of midair and chucked it at the armor, hitting it in the head and pinning the helmet into the wall. The set

The sun rose over the horizon, basking the city of Evergreen with its rich, warm glow. Evergreen was a bustling city with a large stone wall that stood fifty feet tall. The city was nestled between rolling hills, vast grasslands, wild woods, and prime farmland. Humans, elves, and half-elves made up most of the population of this great city and the area around it. Outside the city walls were small farms, sprawling miles away into the wilderness. At the break of dawn, dozens of people made their way toward the southern front gate of Evergreen. With the last of the winter frosts melted, the druids and farmers swarmed to the nearest city or town

The group cautiously rode through the Daisy Woods as they followed the Emerald Corps. to the Yoshida stronghold. They rode past the spot they were ambushed by and only stopped to take the supplies they had left behind, then continued forward. As they reached the edge of the forest later that night, three Shambling Mounds wandered out of the woods and attacked them. Uriel and Derrick sped forward while the others fought off the plant creatures. After a hard fought fight, they were able to take out the mounds and reach Daisy Village by midnight. By noon, they left the quaint village.
By midafternoon that day, the caravan ran into a migrating g
Fifteen long years of peace passed by in the region of Kanto. The region had recovered fairly well from the Tojoh War that split the Empire into several independent regions and decimated population. One such place was Pallet Town, where the marks of war still showed. Middle aged men were a rare sight. Buildings lay in ruins. Machines of war long destroyed were weathered by nature where they fell. The graveyards were full of deceased soldiers and civilians who lost their lives. Nearly every town and city the regions of Kanto and Johto suffered from the same ill effects of war. Despite it ending fifteen years ago, the pain still seeped deep
Hanako slowly opened her eyes, her vision blurred. Her surroundings were dimmed, with a sliver of light shining through the blinds beside her bed. She suffered from a terrible headache as she tried to sit up, which only furthered the pounding in her skull. "Tatsu...Riviére..." she said as a bright light suddenly appeared, the lights popping in her head. She racked her aching brain as she tried to remember how she got there. The room's door opened, hallway's bright light spilling into the room. The sudden light hurt her eyes.
"Oh, you're awake," said an unknown voice. "You've been asleep for two full days."

Standing at the edge of the Viridian Forest, Hanako, Riviére, and Tatsu prepared to set up camp as night began its decent. "Well, it took nearly two weeks, but we're finally here," said Tatsu as he looked at the map depicting the Viridian Forest. "Depending on the route we take, it will take three to six days to get to Pewter City," he said as he looked over the top. "So who wants to start early?"
"Are you crazy?" asked Riviére as she lifted her skirt and sat on a patch of grass before leaning back to lay down. "I'm exhausted. We've been walking since dawn."
"I agree with Riviére," said Hanako as she sat beside Ri
Riviére, Tatsu, and Hanako walked down the dirt path of Route 3 on a bright, sunny morning. The land mass began to change when they left Pewter City. The terrain was no longer forest and grasslands they enjoyed on the previous routes. The hills got taller and steeper as they walked closer to Mt. Moon, the highest point of the Tojoh Mountains. Seasonal trees were less common and dominated by evergreen trees found in the rocky landscape. More Rock and Ground-type Pokémon were common now. Pokémon commonly found on Route 1 and 2 were a rare sight.
Tatsu scrolled through his Pokédex, looking at the wild Pokémon kn
At the break of dawn, a tall, gray Pokémon with a purple tail hovered over a small mountain on the outskirts of Cerulean City. Eyeing the sleepy city with his cold purple eyes, the Pokémon descended to the ground. The Pokémon raised his hand and blasted a hole to the side of the mountain with an energy attack. The unknown Pokémon turned his head and saw four black helicopters with large red R's fly off to the larger mountains. The Pokémon walked inside and disappeared into the mouth of new entrance to a chamber.

Riviére slowly opened her eyes and sat up, rubbing the front of her head. Feeling a small lump, she rolled her legs out of bed and stood up. She walked over to the mirror and peered into it. Riviére observed a small, bruised lump in the center of her forehead. The bruise on the side of her head was also healing, though now it was developing a yellowish hue.
"I wish people would stop hitting me in the face," she said to herself as she turned back to the bed. A small, feather-like charm hanging off her bedpost caught her eye. "What's this?" Riviére walked over to the bedpost and picked the charm off. She examined it as s
Hanako sighed in relief as she returned Exeggcute to her Poké Ball and walked over to Tatsu and Riviére. "Glad that's over," she said as she placed the Poké Ball into her purse and looked over her shoulder. Robin was getting scolded by Louis before walking away and sitting in the patch of grass beside the bridge.
"That was a great battle," said Tatsu as he patted her on the shoulder. "I didn't realize you trained your Exeggcute so thoroughly."
"Thanks," she said as looked back at Louis.
Louis twirled his hair as he turned to his remaining crew. "Hmm...Jean, you're next." he said after sizing them up.
